How to hold yourself together, even after you got rejected.
I am writing this story from my personal experience while I am currently job hunting. I decided to change my career path and do everything I can to be a software developer. I Listen to every tip and follow all the advice from anybody that is willing to share. BUT I still get rejected!.
Today I am going to talk about how I hold myself together and turn the rejection into passion. First “ I see rejection as my collection of learned lessons, and one day I will get the job if my collection is full and plentiful.” What do I mean by that? Everybody has been through a rejection, or gets ignored for some reason. Everybody is collecting rejections, some are not the same size, mine might be bigger than others, I might need a couple more rejections until i finally get my first YES, but it is not important how many you collect but rather, how you handle it and find a way to keep moving forward with your goal.
Steps to take after rejection
- Be upset or disappointed, it’s a normal feeling but give yourself a limit.
- After you express your emotions, Now you’re ready to fight again. Take time to learn from the mistakes, you have to evaluate yourself honestly in order to improve.
- Use what you learned, change what is useful, discard what is not, and move on.
What is the benefit of rejection
Every rejection is an opportunity to better understand what to expect in future interviews, it can be scary and hard to go into a situation blind and not know what is around the corner, but if you have had multiple interviews, you can semi accurately predict what is going to happen.
But I promise, every rejection will still hurt, but you will heal quicker than the time before for sure.
Every time I got rejected and after healing myself, I have more energy and excitement to learn more and be better until I deserve to get a job. Every interview and rejection builds me to be a stronger candidate.
What I learned in the past few months of job hunting?
You can’t learn everything at once or be an expert in 1 week or 1 month. I think a lot of people struggle with this because we all want to be so good so quickly, and try to push ourselves to study everything at one time, then after that, we do not understand or remember anything because our brain is not a computer.
I am glad I got rejected in the past because I have learned a lot from these situation and made me get out of my comfort zone to see how far I can grow.
